Levy Funding

Levy Funding

Orange Community Education & Recreation is funded in part by a 5-year renewable, .95-mil levy.

This levy, first passed in 1975 and every 5 years since then, is designed to provide approximately 25% of the funds needed to operate Orange Community Education & Recreation and provide its many programs and services to our community. The department has successfully operated on the same .95 mil renewable levy funding, with no increases, since 1995. All other operating funds are derived from user participation fees, grants and donations.

This levy supports all parts of the Orange Community Education & Recreation department, including Orange Early Childhood Preschool, summer camps, before/after school activities. youth sports, aquatics, Stagecrafters' Theatre, Orange Art Center, Orange Senior Center and adult education & discovery.

Levy History 1973 - 2020

We thank the Orange City School district community for passing our levy last on April 29, 2020 with a 72% passage rate, the highest in our levy history!  This passage ensures this partial funding for Orange Community Education & Recreation through 2025.

As one of the most comprehensive community education and recreation programs in Ohio, our professional staff works in tandem with residents, the school district and community in developing programs and activities that serve the whole community. From aquatics, fine art, sports and theatre to preschool, health and wellness, learning opportunities and more, Orange Community Education & Recreation serves preschoolers, youth and teens, adults and senior adults. We are truly dedicated to building community one activity at a time.
