About Our Camps
Orange Community Education & Recreation's comprehensive summer camp program provides a safe, active and fun environment for kids to explore new interests, get creative, make friends and learn - all on the Orange Schools campus. With dozens of amazing camps for students in preschool through high school designed to appeal to a wide array of talents and interests, campers are sure to enjoy a fun-filled summer!

We utilize the Orange campus which features a kid-friendly outdoor leisure pool with a slide and waterfalls, groomed sports fields, playgrounds, tennis courts, hiking trails set in wooded surroundings, and indoor facilities including an indoor pool with a separate diving area, gymnasiums, and ample indoor play spaces.

We are committed to providing your child with a safe, fun, active experience this summer. From sports to theatre to traditional day camp and arts, we offer a variety of camps to ensure that every child has the opportunity to explore new areas of interest while promoting physical activity, teaching new skills, and creating challenges to encourage personal growth. Our dedicated camp staff will create an environment of inclusiveness, safety, and collaboration to ensure all campers have the chance to make lasting lifelong friendships. With many camps scheduled this season, we’re sure there is something for everyone!

Here’s a little more about our staff:
• Staff members are adults and college students; a few high school students assist
• All staff members are CPR and first aid certified
• Staff are knowledgeable and well-trained
• All staff members go through criminal background checks before they are hired
• Staff members are available to answer your questions at any time
• We maintain low staff to camper ratios to provide the best experience possible

Please note: All of our summer camps are inclusive. We are happy to work with you to accommodate your child’s special needs. Contact Kelly Borders at [email protected] or (216) 831-8601 for details.

Registration
Camp registration begins Monday, January 23 at 12 PM for district residents and Monday, January 30 at 12 PM for nonresidents. We offer easy online register at www.orangerec.ce.eleyo.com or visit us in person at Pepper Pike Learning Center, 8:30 am – 5 pm, Monday - Friday.

All camps require advanced registration. Registration closes on Wednesdays prior to the start of each camp (or when filled) so that our staff members have time to prepare necessary paperwork, verify supplies and organize the camp week. Registration will not be accepted the day a camp begins.

General Camp Information

Communication with Parents & Campers
Prior to the start of each camp week, parents and campers can expect to receive information by email that provides important camp details for the week ahead. This email will include pick up and drop off details, what your child will need to bring to camp, special camp activities, along with any information needed to make your camper’s experience the best it can be.

We communicate any last minute changes in dismissal or plans influenced by the day’s weather via email, text or both. Please be sure that we have up-to-date parent contact information when registering.  You can also access helpful information like camp dates, start times, building locations and more by logging into your registration account here.

What To Bring To Day Camp
All campers should bring a swimsuit, towel, refillable water bottle & a lunch each day. Personal items should be clearly marked with camper’s name. Please apply your child's sunscreen before dropping off for camp and send a bottle marked with your child's name on it for reapplication throughout the day.

Transportation
Parents provide transportation to and from all camps. We use Orange School District school bus transportation when traveling for field trips, and sometimes in and around campus. For the safety of all children, parents are asked to comply with a formal traffic pattern, which is strictly enforced for drop-off and pick-up at camps.

Late Pick Up
If you are running late for camp dismissal, please call our office at (216) 831-8601. Campers who are not picked up 15 minutes after camp dismissal will be subject to a $20 late fee. Camps who are not picked up 29 minutes after dismissal will be subject to a $50 late fee.

Inclement Weather
While we prefer to be outside playing, when inclement weather occurs, we move indoors to Pepper Pike Learning Center and Orange High School. Orange Outdoor Pool is closed when thunder/lightning is detected and remains closed until inclement weather has passed.

Camp Cancellations
If a camp, class or event is cancelled due to low enrollment, a member of our staff will contact you with the option to either transfer to another camp, class or event within the same season, or receive a full refund. Sometimes due to scheduling,
transportation issues or instructors’ availability, dates may change from what was previously advertised in the Recreation Guide. When this happens, we will do our best to communicate these changes with you as soon as possible. If you are no
longer able to participate as a result of these changes, a full refund will be issued upon request.

Camp Refunds
Please check your calendar carefully when registering your child for camp. If your schedule changes and your child will not be attending camp, please note that the last day to request a refund for all OCER camps is June. This means that after June 2, no refunds, transfers or credits will be processed. If you wish to request a refund before June 2, please contact us by calling us at (216) 831-8601 or send an email to [email protected] We aim to process refunds within 2- 5 business days of receiving your request. Refunds are electronically credited to the credit card used for payment of the camp fee. Refunds for cash and check payments will be refunded in the form of a check, and should be received 2 – 3 weeks after the refund is processed.
