OCER and Orange Art Center Unite
Beginning August 1, 2016, the Orange Art Center (OAC) officially became part of the Orange Community Education & Recreation Department. The announcement was made at the Orange Board of Education meeting on Monday, July 25.

The Orange Art Center has been providing fine arts programming to the greater Orange communities and the surrounding areas since 1980. Located in an historic home along Chagrin Blvd. on the Orange Schools Campus, the Orange Art Center has continued to serve a wide variety of artists and students. Both the Orange Art Center and Orange Community Education & Recreation have worked closely together over the past few years to make this exciting transition.

“We are so excited about the opportunity to expand Orange Community Education & Recreation’s (OCE&R) programming to include the fine arts,” said Laura Guentner, OCE&R Director. “After working closely with the Orange Art Center to understand their original mission of providing dynamic and exciting art opportunities for all levels, we look forward to offering the fine arts programming that the Orange Art Center has become known for, as well as welcoming new instructors and new programming for all ages.”

In addition to current offerings in the areas of painting, drawing, pottery and jewelry making, this year will also usher in several new art classes and programs including sculpture, glass fusing, block printing, glass painting, cartooning and several new classes and activities for youth and teens. The program will be welcoming back OAC’s current talented and well known artist/instructors, as well as new artist/instructors.
