VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

PAL PROGRAM

New this year is our after school leadership program designed for students in grade 6-8 to learn about responsibility, teamwork, safety, child development and leadership skills while working with the Open Door school age child care program. This program, similar to our summer Lions Camp CIT Apprentice program, gives students the opportunity to receive in-depth training and practice supervision techniques while assisting with younger students in the Open Door program. Students will have time to learn new skills, work on their own homework, and enjoy a snack.  They will spend part of their day interacting with younger children – participating in and designing activities, playing games, reading & having snack.

Under the guidance of Youth and Open Door teachers and staff, students in the PAL Program will volunteer each day interacting with younger children – participating in and designing activities, playing games, reading stories, having snack and escorting children to other areas within the PPLC facility.  Focus will be on specific skill development topics and education for the PAL Program participants.
