Orange Community Education & Recreation’s Scholarship fund was created to help people in the greater Orange community who may need assistance to participate in recreation programs. The intent is to provide children, teens, adults and senior adults from income eligible families with the opportunity to participate in high quality, positive recreation experiences that promote physical, mental and social well-being and foster a strong sense of community.
The OCER Scholarship program is available to Orange School District residents who meet the established criteria found here
. If you feel you may qualify due to special circumstances, please complete an application, attach a separate sheet detailing the circumstances and submit your application.
Applicants may request a scholarship for more than one family member. Only one application is required per family. Applicants must complete a new application for each season in which they would like to participate.Which Programs Are Available to Scholarship Participants?
Scholarships are available for all courses, camps, programs and activities offered by Orange Community Education & Recreation except
Open Door Extended Care, Early Childhood Preschool tuition, and family and individual swim passes. Additionally, while the scholarship will cover enrollment in a program, special fees for programs such as Stagecrafters community production advertisements, or materials and supplies will not be covered. Please inquire whether a course has an additional fee when submitting an application.

Applications and supporting documentation may be mailed to us or submitted in person to Orange Community Education & Recreation Department, Pepper Pike Learning Center, 32000 Chagrin Blvd., Pepper Pike, Ohio 44124. Office hours are Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 5 pm.

Orange Community Education & Recreation has three registration sessions plus a separate summer camp registration session. It is best to apply at the beginning of the registration period, however application are taken throughout each season. Some classes fill quickly and registration cannot be guaranteed. Applications may be submitted now for 2019 summer camps.

and in hard copy at Pepper Pike Learning Center, Orange Senior Center and the Orange Branch of the Cuyahoga County Library.
How Will Applications Be Reviewed?
Submitted applications will be treated with confidentiality and reviewed by our three-person scholarship committee made up of members of the Recreation Commission. OCER staff will not review or approve applications. To maintain confidentiality and privacy, applications and supporting documentation will be destroyed upon approval.
Applicants will be notified by phone within ten (10) business days from submission of their application. Upon acceptance, a registration account will be created and the participant will be enrolled in the course, activity or program. Additional information and consent to participate may be required at the time of enrollment. If a participant withdraws from a program or the program is canceled, registration fees paid on the behalf of the participant will be refunded to the scholarship fund.
