Lifeguard Class Starts May 1

Register now for OCER's upcoming Lifeguard class and start your career as a lifeguard with a splash! 

This course beginning May 1 will certify participants in American Red Cross Lifeguarding for employment. You'll learn the skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until EMS personnel take over. To participate, students must be at least 15 years of age by the last class (proof of age required) and pass swim tests given on the first day (300 yard swim, treading water, & retrieval of brick). Attendance at every class is required as is access to a computer for course work outside of class. Students should bring: pen, paper, swimsuit, goggles, towel, CPR Rescue Mask, and contact case if needed. Participants who successfully complete the Lifeguarding course receive an American Red Cross certificate for Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED, valid for 2 years.
