Orange Community Education & Recreation employs full-time, part-time and seasonal employees. These include programming staff, early childhood teachers, support and operations staff, supervisory staff and before and after school childcare staff, and custodians.

Lifeguards and swim instructor positions are available year-round while summer camp staff positions are available during the summer.

Please note: A criminal BCI & FBI background check including fingerprints is required prior to employment and for certain volunteer opportunities. Background checks are paid for by the potential employee and  are scheduled after applicants are interviewed.

Full-Time
Coordinator II - Competitive Youth & Adult Sports
Orange Community Education and Recreation provides outstanding recreation and discovery opportunities for people of all ages and abilities. The department offers programming in arts, theatre, sports, preschool discovery, youth recreation, camps, and before/after school activities, as well as adaptive recreation, adult recreation, senior adult recreation and aquatics. The department is currently seeking a full-time Coordinator II – Competitive & Adult Sports, to work in our Sports Division under the supervision of the Sports Coordinator.

In this role, the Coordinator II will focus on fostering a vibrant, competitive sports atmosphere, promoting, growing, and streamlining competitive youth sports with an emphasis on training and managing volunteer coaches, creating skill development opportunities for athletes, and assisting in the day-to-day operations of a comprehensive recreation sports catalog that includes youth, teen, and adult athletes. 

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of career track, demonstrated work in recreation programming, competitive sports programming, or adult sports programming, with experience in aquatics management as a plus; facility management and strong supervision experience is necessary, including indoor spaces and outdoor athletic fields. The ability to work as part of a dedicated and enthusiastic team of community education and recreation professionals that is dedicated to creating outstanding experiences is critical. Excellent written and oral communication skills are required as is certification in CPR/AED/First Aid and Concussion in Sports (NFHS).  The successful candidate will have the ability to work a flexible schedule with nights and weekends required during peak sports seasons. Excellent customer service skills with an outcome and solutions-oriented mindset is necessary. Early Childhood Teacher, Pepper Pike Learning Center 
Orange Early Childhood is a unique, dynamic and comprehensive Early Childhood program, managed by Orange Community Education & Recreation and located on the campus of the Orange School District. We are currently seeking energetic, enthusiastic and inspired educators to co-teach in our preschool classrooms. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, and have experience working with young children in a preschool setting. The position is full-time and the hours are Monday through Friday, 8 hours/day, 9am-5:30pm. Pay rate starting at $25.00/hr. Includes health benefits. Summer Camp Counselors, Stagecrafters Theatre Camp 
Orange Community Education & Recreation, Stagecrafters is seeking enthusiastic, responsible, and energetic high school, college and graduate students to work as Camp Counselors for the Summer 2025 season! As a Camp Counselor, you'll be a role model, a friend, and a leader. You’ll guide campers through daily activities, ensure their safety and well-being, and help create a positive, inclusive environment. Counselors work in a fast-paced environment while planning and implementing activities for students in grades K - 8. Camp runs June 9 - August 1. The work day is 9:00 am - 3:30 pm with occasional extended hours as need. This role offers competitive wages, compensated training, adventure, and leadership development. Summer Camp Adaptive Recreation Specialist, Extreme Adventures Camp
Orange Community Education & Recreation is seeking a Paraprofessional to assist a middle school camper with special needs at our Extreme Adventures Camp during the weeks of July 7 - July 25. The preferred candidate would have the ability to lead camp activities with energy, while facilitating behavioral and social support. Camp activities include extended field trips, swimming, sports, cooking, arts & crafts, games and outdoor activities. The camp will run daily from 9 am - 3 pm, Monday - Friday. Lions Club Recreation Specialist, Pepper Pike Learning Center 
Orange Community Education and Recreation is currently seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic, highly qualified individual to serve as a Recreation Specialist. The Recreation Specialist is primarily responsible for contributing to the oversight of recreational programs, supervision of participants, and implementation of comprehensive services and programs that meet the needs and interests of each participant and our constituents. Qualified candidates should have excellent organizational and customer relation skills, comprehend oral and/or written instructions, detail oriented, and flexible, the ability to handle and prioritize diverse and changing duties with solid commitment to serving others and the competency to work and collaborate with a dedicated team of community education and recreation professionals in public school setting. Extensive experience working with school age children and ability to deal firmly, tactfully, and courteously with youth participants in an educational/recreational setting is necessary. The selected candidate will work approximately 20-25 hours per week, Monday - Friday from 7:45-9:45 am and/or 2:45-5:45 pm. Starting pay is $14 per hour. Nature Recreation Specialist, Pepper Pike Learning Center 
Orange Community Education and Recreation is currently seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic, highly qualified individual to serve as a Recreation Specialist with focus on nature-based programs. The Recreation Specialist is primarily responsible for contributing to the oversight of nature-based programs, supervision of participants, and implementation of comprehensive services and programs that meet the needs and interests of each participant and our constituents. Extensive experience working with school age children and ability to deal firmly, tactfully, and courteously with youth participants in outdoor, educational/recreational settings is necessary. Current CPR certificate and concussion in sport certificate, will be required. The selected candidate will work approximately 25-30 hours per week for two weeks, from June 10–June 13 and July 15–July 18, Tuesday through Friday, from 8:45 AM to 3:15 PM, with the potential for additional hours. Summer Camp Art Instructor, Orange Art Center
The Orange Art Center is hiring experienced, creative art instructors for our 2025 Summer Art Camp. This six-week program runs weekdays from June 9 through July 25, providing hands-on art experiences for children in grades K-8. Instructors will design and lead fun, age-appropriate lessons in a variety of media, encouraging creativity and artistic growth in a supportive environment. Applicants are required to have experience teaching art to children or teens and the ability to create a positive, well-managed classroom. A degree in Fine Arts, Art Education, or a related field is preferred; candidates with equivalent experience are encouraged to apply. Camps run from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with both full-day and half-day teaching opportunities available. Pay is $30 per hour. This is a great opportunity for art educators to share their passion in a welcoming setting with small class sizes, fully equipped studios, and a collaborative, supportive staff. Counselors work in a fast-paced, outdoor environment while planning and implementing activities for students in grades K - 8 in a traditional day camp environment. Camp runs June 9 - August 1. The work day is 8:45 am - 3:15 pm with occasional extended shifts.This role offers competitive wages, compensated training, adventure, and leadership development. Lifeguards and Water Safety Instructors
Orange Community Education & Recreation is currently seeking certified lifeguards and water safety instructors to fill flexible, part-time hours throughout the year. American Red Cross Certification is required for lifeguards.
