OCER Scholarship Program

Orange Community Education & Recreation’s Scholarship fund was created to help people in the greater Orange community who may need assistance to participate in recreation programs. The intent is to provide children, teens, adults and senior adults from income eligible families with the opportunity to participate in high quality, positive recreation experiences that promote physical, mental and social well-being and foster a strong sense of community. 
 
Donate
Tax-deductible donations to the scholarship program are accepted from individuals, businesses and community groups interested in having a direct, life-enhancing impact on a local individual.

Eligibility
The OCER Scholarship program is available to Orange School District residents in need of financial assistance.

Applicants may request assistance for the participation of more than one family member but only one course, camp or activity will be provided per person per season.

Which Programs Are Available to Scholarship Participants?
Scholarships are available for all courses, camps, programs and activities offered by Orange Community Education & Recreation except Lions Club Before/After School Care and Early Childhood Preschool tuition. Families may also request a one day-pass for our Orange Outdoor Pool under the scholarship program.

Families needing assistance with Early Childhood Preschool tuition should contact Early Childhood Coordinator Maria Hill at [email protected], as other resources may be available.

How to Apply?
To apply for a scholarship, please complete the application form found here and submit by email to [email protected] or in person to Orange Community Education & Recreation Department, Pepper Pike Learning Center, 32000 Chagrin Blvd., Pepper Pike, Ohio 44124 or by email here. Office hours are Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 5 pm.

When Should I Apply?
Orange Community Education & Recreation has four registration periods. It is best to apply at the beginning of the registration period, however application are taken throughout each season.  Some classes fill quickly and registration cannot be guaranteed. 

 Fall session Apply August 1
 Winter session Apply December 1
 Summer Camp session  Apply January 15
 Spring / Summer session  Apply March 1

Courses, programs and events offered can be found in our Recreation Guide. The Recreation Guide is mailed to all homes in the Orange School District and can also be found online here and in hard copy at Pepper Pike Learning Center, Orange Senior Center and the Orange Branch of the Cuyahoga County Library.
 
How Will Applications Be Handled? 
Submitted applications will be treated with confidentiality and privacy. Applications will be destroyed after processing.

Notification
Applicants will be notified by email within five (5) business days from submission of their application. Upon award, the participant will be enrolled in the course, activity or program and all registration information will be available in the participants Eleyo account. Additional information and consent to participate may be required at the time of enrollment. If a participant withdraws from a program or the program is canceled, registration fees paid on the behalf of the participant will be refunded to the scholarship fund.
